ACCC Product Safety
Product safety regulation in Australia is a shared responsibility between the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and other regulators (Opens in new tab).
The ACCC enforce the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and other legislation promoting competition and fair trading, product safety and regulation of national infrastructure.
Vision and mission
The ACCC's role is to address the risk of serious injury, serious illness and death from safety hazards in consumer products, and to raise public awareness.
The ACCC Product Safety Priorities (Opens in new tab) set out the principles adopted annually by the ACCC for prioritising and addressing these risks.
The ACCC oversee mandatory standards, bans and consumer product recalls, take compliance and enforcement action, advocate for reform and educate industry and consumers.
How ACCC Product Safety can help
The ACCC Product Safety (Opens in new tab) website provides a single-entry point for recalled products, directing consumers to the appropriate regulator. It also provides a range of safety information across various product categories, as well as enabling consumers to report unsafe products.
Businesses can find information about any laws, bans, standards or restrictions that may apply when supplying products in Australia. It also enables businesses to submit product recalls, mandatory injury reports and other information required by law.
